A one vehicle accident late yesterday afternoon, November 24th, sent an Ottawa man and long time KOFO employee to the hospital. Sean Torrez was traveling north on Ash Street in the 900 block, when he suffered a medical emergency, left the roadway, traveling down the terrace for nearly half a block and crashed head on into a tree. Despite the incredible damage to his vehicle, first responders with the Ottawa Police, Ottawa Fire and Franklin County EMS were able to have Torres step out of the vehicle on his own. He was transported to AdventHealth Ottawa for treatment of injuries received in the crash.
Ottawa police on scene says that Torres was wearing his seat belt and airbags did deploy. Without the use of his seat belt, his injuries could have been much more severe.
KOFO and all law enforcement and first responders urge all drivers and passengers to wear your seat belts on every trip, every time, no matter how short that trip is. With the Thanksgiving holiday approaching. We all want to see everyone arrive safely to their destinations.
