The Ottawa City Commission has approved an ordinance adopting international existing building codes without any added amendments. The action was in response to objections raised by some businesses downtown, particularly in the use of or need for fire protection systems. Commissioner Eric Crowley had a question for Neighborhood Services Director Lucas Neece:
The ordinance is aimed at keeping aging buildings safe for occupancy.
