The Miami County Sheriff’s office said Thursday, December 5th, that a Spring Hill, Kansas, teenager remains in custody in connection with the death of another teenager. Undersheriff Matthew Kelly says that the teenager killed was a 15-year-old boy from Olathe. The teen in custody is a 16-year-old boy. The two are not related. Both teens go to school in the Spring Hill School District. Kelly says the sheriff’s office was first called to the scene just before 3 a.m. Wednesday on a report that a teen inside the residence had been injured. When deputies arrived, they found the 15-year-old dead. Another teenager, the 16-year-old, was then taken to a hospital as a precautionary measure.
However, deputies found the death suspicious, and the investigations division was called in, along with the Johnson County Sheriff’s Office Crime Scene Unit. A search warrant was executed at the home. The 16-year-old at the hospital was soon taken into custody and transported to a juvenile detention facility. Anyone with information relating to this case should contact the investigations unit.
