The Garnett Fire Department has announced a recent grant award in the amount of $195,000 from the Patterson Family Foundation. The funding will allow the fire department to replace self contained breathing apparatus that are at or near end of service life.

The Garnett fire department is giving big thanks to the Patterson Family Foundation for their continued support. Their generosity will allow them to purchase equipment that is unaffordable for many small departments similar to the Garnett department. Garnett Fire Department Chief, Wesley Skillman, says the foundation has put immense amounts of life-saving equipment in the community they live and work in.

The Patterson Family Foundation is a family-led, non-profit foundation extending the legacy of Neal and Jeanne Patterson. The foundation’s mission is…”working together to help rural communities thrive,” and is carried forward through strategic grantmaking and other collaborative initiatives that serve rural counties across Kansas and western Missouri.
