If you live in Osawatomie, you probably know who Jeff and Sarah Dorsett are. The Dorsett’s are familiar names in the local medical field, both serving as family physicians before retiring in 2022. But, retirement is just a word, as they have opened a new career, operating Freedom’s Front Tire out of their home. After retirement as a doctor, the both developed a passion for bicycles and cycling. They started a repair shop. Freedom’s Front Tire. The business offers bicycle repair services as well as used, refurbished bikes for sale.
Sarah has incorporated her artistic talent into the operation, and together the couple have transformed numerous old bikes into colorful works of art throughout the community. A total of 51 bikes are displayed throughout town. The Dorsett’s said eight of the bikes have been created by community members who have joined the trend. Most of the bikes have a theme and feature flower baskets. He says that Osawatomie is the ‘bicycle flower basket of the world’.
Recently, they were nominated as “ an angel among us”, for the passion for the community and for all ages and walks of life. Congratulations.
