With the incoming cold and snow, the emergency cold shelter in Ottawa will be busy and they need your help. Homeless Coalition Representative Brett Staneslow has put out a call for volunteers to help run the shelter. The shelter is open on nights where the temp dips below 20 degrees and as it looks now that will start tonight and extend well into next week. Staneslow says with the wind, and extreme wind chills expected, frostbite is a serious concern. He says the last thing anyone wants is for someone to be severely injured by the cold or die from the cold.
Volunteers will be need to stay at the shelter overnight from 7:00 in the evening until 7:00 the next morning. Two people are needed for each night.
