The number 7 story on the Miami County Republic’s Top Story List is how two Miami County residents helped subdue the Chiefs Super Bowl Parade shooter.
One person was killed and 22 were injured during the shooting near the end of the pep rally on Valentines Day. Bo Bohlander, of Paola and Steve Orr, of Osawatomie were at the Chiefs Super Bowl celebration with hundreds of thousands of people, when the shots rang out, and they helped subdue one of the shooters. One of the male gunmen was being chased through the crowd by a law enforcement officer when Bohlander and Orr stepped into action. The gunman ran right into Bohlander and they both fell to the ground and the man was subdued. The gun flew to the ground also, and Orr went over and stood on it until police arrived at the scene.
They don’t consider themselves heroes, just two guys doing what needed to be done.
