The minimum wage was among the priorities laid out by leaders of the Kansas Democratic Party. House Minority Leader Brandon Woodard and Senate Minority Leader, Dinah Sykes, told reporters goals for 2025 include the minimum wage, expanding quality healthcare access, and continuing funding for public education. Many priorities from previous sessions also carry over like the much-discussed plans for tax relief:

Republicans outnumber democrats 88 to 37 in the House and 31 to 9 in the Senate. GOP leaders have said they agree with the need for property tax relief but continue to believe Medicaid expansion could increase costs to the state in the long run.
