Governor Laura Kelly has announced two Kansas communities have secured over $3.3 million in Federal Bipartisan Infrastructure Law funding from the U. S. Department of Transportation Federal Railroad Administration Railroad Crossing Elimination Program. One of those projects is in Miami County. In the eastern Kansas communities rail corridor and Grade Crossing Elimination Plan, a project between the cities of Spring Hill, Fontana and Fort Scott will improve railroad crossing safety along the Burlington Northern Santa Fe Fort Scott subdivision. Spring Hill City Administrator, Lane Massey thanked the Build Kansas Fund for partnering to help make the project a reality. Without the funding, he says they wouldn’t have been able to pursue the railroad crossing elimination funds.
Build Kansas Funding will toal $305,000. There is a Federal Grant of over $1 million 600 thousand dollars, and a local contribution of $104,000.
