A tragic incident at Melvern Lake. Friday afternoon, January 17th, just before 4:00, the Osage County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a person who had fallen out of a boat at Melvern Lake. After a lengthy search by land, air and water, a subject was located. They were rescued from the water and life saving measures were performed. The victim was transported to an area hospital where they were pronounced deceased. The victim’s name has not been released, at this time, pending notification of the family.
Sheriff Chris Wells says along with the sheriff’s department, Kansas Department of Wildlife and Parks, Osage County Fire District #2, Osage County Fire District #3, Reading Fire Department, Lifesave Air Ambulance out of Emporia, and Osage County EMS assisted in the incident.
