A tragic house fire in Wellsville recently, destroyed the home of a young couple. They purchased the house recently together and were working to build a better life. The couple lost nearly everything in the fire. Joclynn Johnson graduated in 2023 and was a cheerleader at Wellsville High, involved in several activities and was the Kansas FBLA secretary, placing third nationally in the community service project. She has been a CNA for three years, and is a full time student, in nursing school, recently earning a 4.0 grade point average
Ethan Elliotte is a 2022 graduate. In high school he was active and was a state wrestler all four years, and finished third at state in pole vault his senior year . He has taken a coaching position on the Wellsville High boys wrestling team while working full time as a heavy machinery operator.
Donations are being gathered for the couple by the “Eagle Strong” Foundation. Monetary donations can be dropped off at any Mid America Bank location. For a list of other items needed, and there are plenty, please check the post on the Wellsville USD 290 facebook page or the KOFO facebook page.
