
Anderson County authorities are investigating a homicide in Kincaid. Deputies were called for a welfare check in the 300 block of 1st Street on Thursday, January 23rd. There, they found 36-year-old Sheila Kendall deceased. During the initial course of the investigation, the death was ruled a homicide. The owner of the home, Jerry Thompson was deemed a person of interest in the case. On Friday, through their investigation, with the Coffey County Sheriff’s Office and the Garnett Police department, they confirmed Thompson as a suspect , and immediately issued a warrant for his arrest on Friday.
Saturday, the Kansas Highway Patrol, in Kiowa County located a stolen vehicle being sought in connection with the homicide, southbound on highway 54 near Greensburg, Kansas. The vehicle pulled over, but fled as the trooper approached. Kiowa County deputies successfully deployed stop sticks a few minutes later and the vehicle left the roadway, impacted a field entrance, went airborne and rolled several times, ejecting the driver, Jerry Thompson from the car. He was taken to a local hospital where he was pronounced deceased. In their investigation, officers found a loaded firearm in the vehicle. The official cause of death of the homicide victim, Kendall, and of Thompson were not released.
