The Kids Baking Championship on the Food Network continued last night, January 27th, featuring Princeton’s own Piper Lowe. The contestants were tasked with creating a dessert that featured a sea creature and a flavored ice cream. The twist was that the ice cream, with a mix in, to go with the dessert. With a Disney theme and a Disney family cruise on the line, Piper went to work. Her dessert featured a blue tang fish , you know, think dory, made from shortbread, decorated. For the sea creature theme, she added molded seashells, which were pink, glittery, and as the judge said…a beautiful touch. The showstopper, however, was her ice cream: guava-flavored with toasted coconut. Her decorating skills shone with an faded blue effect that mimicked the ocean. The flavors in her dish were a hit with the judges, especially her ice cream and unique twist on the sea creature theme. The judges loved her ice cream’s bold flavor as well as the intricate and artistic design of her dessert.

So, did piper make it? … drum roll….yes! Though she didn’t win the cruise, she will be one of only eight contestants advancing to episode 5, which will air next Monday night, February 3rd at 7:00. Congratulations, Piper!!
