The Franklin County Cancer Foundation was founded in 1998 to help cancer patients and their families get through the hardship that cancer imposes on them. The foundation has raised nearly $2 million in the last 26 years and they serve a huge number of people in Franklin County who have cancer and need a little assistance with expenses. They report that contributions and donations have been considerably down the past couple of years, but are thankful for the support the community gives. Last year, the foundation raised just over $92,000, of which over $80,000 went to support 64 patients. They spent over $8,000 on Ensure and nutritional drinks, nearly $43,000 on grocery cards, over $29,000 in financial support for things like utility payments, gas cards medical equipment , such as beds, walkers, wheelchairs, shower chairs, lift chairs, bandages, wigs, hats, and much more. This was just last year alone.
