Saturday, the Osage County Sheriff’s Department became aware of a threat made against the Lyndon School District, which was posted on social media. In a letter sent to all patrons of Lyndon USD 412, Interim Superintendent Paul Dorathy says he credits some vigilant parents who reported the threats to the school and then to the sheriff’s department. The sheriff’s department immediately began an investigation and by Saturday evening, they had tracked down the source of the threat and the suspects and took them into custody.
Osage County Sheriff Chris Wells says he wants to reassure the public that they do not believe there is any danger at this time. Both he and Dorathy say they take all threats very seriously and the safety and well-being of students, staff, and the community remain their top priority.
Dorathy says there will be school today in Lyndon on a regular schedule. There will be additional law enforcement at the schools and there will be extra cautions in their safety measures. There will also be additional counselors at the school today incase any student or staff may need their help.
