With the extreme cold weather moving in over the next few nights, the Ottawa Emergency Warming Shelter is going to be open tomorrow night, February 11th and Wednesday night, February 12th. Coalition organizer, Brett Stanselow is looking for a few good people to volunteer at the shelter on those nights and Saturday and Sunday nights as well. The shelter will be open for a hot meal at 5:00 any night it will be open. You don’t have to stay at the shelter to enjoy the meal. They do ask that anyone planning on spending the night to be there before 7:00. The shelter is at the First Baptist Church in Ottawa at 401 Oak.
Without volunteers to monitor the shelter, they can’t open. If you could volunteer your time to help those in great need of protection from the cold, please go to the Franklin County Coalition to End Homelessness facebook page to fill out the necessary forms, or contact Brett Staneslow directly on his facebook messenger, or call us at KOFO if you need help contacting him.
