Major improvements and major additions could be coming to Spring Hill schools. Spring Hill USD 230 will be proposing a $60 million School Bond to voters during a special mail-ballot election in May. The proposed bond includes classroom additions at Spring Hill Elementary, Timber Sage Elementary and Prairie Creek Elementary for an estimated $16 million.
Spring Hill High School would receive a new addition for Career Technical Education and an expanded commons area for an estimated $25 million. Improvements will also be made to the middle school and all the elementary schools in the district.
An enrollment analysis in January 2024 shows Spring Hill USD 230’s enrollment is expected to jump more than 24% in the next five years, with capacity challenges at some of the schools starting as early as the 2025-26 school year.
The school district currently has about 4,000 students, but that is expected to rise to 4,875 by the 2028-29 school year and to more than 5,500 in the 2033-34 school year. USD 230 is the fastest growing school district in the state of Kansas based on the past three-year average.
We’ll have more on the proposed bond issue in Spring Hill tomorrow.
