The Ottawa Police Department was investigating an incident of aggravated interference with parental custody over the weekend. The suspect, the children’s father, had taken the children out of the state of Kansas and was refusing to return them to their mother, which violated a court order. Working with law enforcement partners outside the state, the Ottawa Police were able to return the children to Kansas.
The investigation continues and Chief Adam Weingartner says if warranted, charges will be sent to the Franklin County Attorney’s office. The children in the incident were never thought to be in danger. Ottawa police say all reports of missing people, especially children are take very seriously.
