The historic Courthouse in Downtown Ottawa stands as a beacon of the community and has for over 100 years. Time is taking its toll on the beautiful stone exterior and it’s time for a fix. Only two companies in the area are qualified to restore old stone work. One of those is GKW Restoration, out of Kansas City. The Franklin County Commission will contract with them to fix a lot of the damage to the building, some of which unfortunately was caused by an attempted restoration project in the 1970’s. Director of Facility Operations, Brandon Sands:

The commission approved the project which will cost about $293,000. All commissioners agreed that the need to preserve the courthouse is a top priority.
