A new 3d animation class will be offered at Paola High School. School board members unanimously voted during their meeting recently to approve the new 3d Animation Business class for grades 10-12. Assistant Superintendent Tammy Thomasson told the board members that new computers and software will make the class possible.
New Mac computers are already on the list of purchases through the district’s capital outlay rotation, according to the new course proposal. The proposal states that the course will give students an opportunity to develop their skills in 3D animation, which is useful in a variety of industries, including architecture, engineering, science, medical, television and advertising. The preliminary course description states: “the 3d animation course explores the creative and conceptual aspects of designing animated images for storytelling and multimedia presentations. Topics may include motion graphics, compositing and visual effects, 2D and 3D animation, aspect ratio, video editing, animation physics and expressions, pre- and post-production methods, tools and processes and animation presentation.”
