In an ironic twist, but not surprising, the Storm Spotter and Severe Weather Awareness class scheduled for tonight, March 4th, at the Ottawa Memorial Auditorium, has been postponed… due to the threat of severe weather. Franklin County Emergency Management Director, Tom Winter, says the program will be rescheduled.
In another twist of irony, another Storm Spotter Class was cancelled a couple weeks ago due to severe winter weather and, two years ago, Governor Laura Kelly’s Public Proclamation of Severe Weather Awareness Week was postponed due to alive of very severe thunderstorms that were sweeping through the area that day.
Tom Winter says he will get the storm spotter class rescheduled as soon as possible, as he believes having as much information as you can during severe weather is vitally important and being able to recognize the different aspects of a severe thunderstorm would not only be valuable to a person individually, but also the public in general.
