
Have you seen the banners hanging around Ottawa and Garnett promoting agriculture? National Agriculture Week is March 16th through the 22nd, and, the Frontier Extension District wants to draw awareness to the importance of AG to the area. Each banner highlights a different aspect of agriculture industry. In Ottawa, the banners are hung on Main Street south of 17th Street and can be viewed traveling both north and south.
Numbers released by the Kansas Department of Agriculture confirm that agriculture continues to be a major contributor to the economy of Franklin County. Franklin county has 1,020 farms, accounting for 355,436 acres. Franklin County producer Jake Sylvester says a strong AG economy is reinforced by cooperation of the community and Franklin County is fortunate to have several local suppliers that provide great customer service to not only farmers and ranchers, but the entire community.
