Kansas is known for its wide-open spaces, small towns, and family-oriented neighborhoods. Although safety can vary a great deal from place to place. A new study by Reolink rates the safest and most dangerous towns in Kansas. Coming in at number 9as the safest… is Spring Hill. Gardner is number 6 and the city of Eudora is listed as the safest city in Kansas, based on it’s exceptionally low crime rate. Almost no violent crime incidents the past several years. Reolink says Eudora has a close-knit community and proactive policing making it a safe place to live.
The five most dangerous cities to live in? Ark City, Merriam, Independence, Topeka, and the number one most dangerous city to live in Kansas…Wichita, with a violent crime rate almost double any other city in the state. Reolink says the higher rates are also related to gang activity and economic disparities.
As for Ottawa… we aren’t in the top 10 most unsafe towns or in the top 10 safest towns; however, according to Police Chief Adam Weingartner, the crime rate overall in Ottawa is low and we all should feel safe here.
