Ottawa electric utility customers are going to have to fork over a few extra dollars this year and the next three years, as the Ottawa City Commission adopted a utility rate increase that had originally been set up in 2023. That 6% increase was skipped over last year due to a wind storm knocking out a lot of the infrastructure in town. City Finance Director, Melanie Landis on the impact:
The rate increase will kick in May 1st . There is also an increase on water and wastewater utility rates. This includes a $2 base charge adjustment for wastewater, coupled with a 5% rate increase. Water services will also experience a $2 base charge adjustment, accompanied by a 6% rate increase.
