The accident where a truck ran completely through a building in Louisburg on Tuesday, March 18th, has turned deadly. As the truck, driven by 77 year old Robert Korenich, of Deepwater, Missouri, went through Agape’s Grace, Inc and Safari Hair Styling Salon in the 900 block of East Amity, it struck two people, Anthony Juarez and his wife Devin, of Louisburg, who were working at Agape Grace at the time. Both were rushed to Overland Park Regional Hospital with critical injuries. While Devin will recover from her injuries, Anthony died as a result of the injuries he received.
Juarez was a member of the Drexel, Missouri fire department for the last 9 years. Chief Booker says that Juarez was not only beloved by his fire department teammates, but he was also a beloved member of the Drexel community. Anthony and his band, “68 Overpass”, were frequent performers at their annual pumpkin fest, as well as other local venues. Booker says they are praying for the first responders who handled the call in Louisburg, and for the hospital medical team that worked to save Anthony’s life. Fire Chief Booker thanks Miami County Undersheriff, Matt Kelly and the Miami County Sheriff’s office for providing and coordinating peer support for their firefighters. Captain Dave Sander of the Louisburg Police Department says the exact cause of the accident is still unknown, but he added that some aspects of the investigation have changed with the passing of Juarez.
The Drexel Fire Department will post memorial & funeral information on their page as soon as those details are made available.
