Severe Weather Awareness Week was held in Kansas the first week of March and as we head into spring and summer, we need to be ready for a variety of weather events, some coming with very little notice. K-state Climatologist and Kansas Weather Mesonet Manager, Chip Redmond, says you need to be weather aware and it takes some planning:

A quick note on tornadoes. Last year, nation wide, was one of the most active tornado seasons on record. Experts predict another busy season, as there have been 189 tornadoes across the nation already this year, 100 of those on the March 14th -16th outbreak. KOFO will continue our stories on severe weather and how it can affect you and your family so you can be weather aware.
