A potential threat to Lincoln School was thwarted yesterday morning, March 26th. Just before 8:30 the USD 290 School Resource Officer was called to Lincoln Elementary school due to comments that a student had made that were concerning to school officials. The student in question was contacted by school staff and Ottawa police officers. An orange plastic squirt toy was located in a student’s backpack.
Ottawa police say there were no threats made towards any student and there is no threat at this time.
USD 290 staff and Ottawa police followed their protocols to ensure the safety of the schools.
The Ottawa Police Department would like to remind students and parents that any threat or perceived threat, will be investigated as a criminal matter. They also ask that parents ensure their students understand what is not acceptable behavior while they are at school, and add that staying vigilant is important. If you see or hear something, say something.
