It’s back! The Friends of the Prairie Spirit Trail Walking Club season kicks off Wednesday, April 9th, at the Garnett Recreation Center. This year’s focus is on morning or evening walking partner/groups, and will have four fun meetups, a 50-mile mileage maker challenge and more, all geared toward optimizing the participant’s Walking Club journey. The 2025 Walking Club season is April 9 to July 9. Registration will be at the rec center at 5:30 that day. It’s only $5.00 to register for the Walking Club designed for the whole family as a unique social experience to fortify healthier habits. There will also be health stations provided by Anderson County Hospital to help set a baseline: body mass index, blood pressure check, weigh-in, and body measurement.
Back by popular demand this year is the Mileage Makers 50-mile Challenge. Pick up tracker sheets during registration. Prizes will be awarded upon completing the first 50 miles and prizes will be awarded to the top 4 Walking Club members walking the most miles.
