The Ottawa City Commission has opened the Common Consumption Zone in Downtown Ottawa full time. This means that people are allowed to roam the area with alcoholic beverages at any time. Party time, all the time, right? Well….no. City Attorney Blaine Finch reminded everyone of what the new policy means:
Main Street Director, Sarah Stauffer says there have been no issues or complaints from businesses or the Ottawa Police about the Common Consumption Zone during events that it has been open. The new policy allows event organizers to request the common consumption zone not be open during their event.
