A man from Ottawa was seriously injured in a fatality accident in the Kansas City area. Just before 7:30 yesterday morning, April 10th, a tractor trailer hauling a large water tank was traveling north on Highway 69 just west of 207th street, when it ran off the road to the right. It struck a bridge rail over 207th street, crossed into the number one lane and into the median, where it overturned and stopped in the southbound lanes.
The driver, 48-year-old Eugene Merrell of Tonganoxie died in the accident. His passenger 28-year-old Colin Cowdin, of Ottawa suffered serious injuries and was transported to an area hospital for treatment. No word on his condition today. Both men were wearing seatbelts at the time of the crash.
