A donation by Kalmar Ottawa is a welcome relief for the Ottawa Fire Department. On Friday, April 11th, Kalmar gave the Ottawa Fire Department $3,437. The funding weill go directly to the purchase of f-500 encapsulator agent. If you aren’t familiar, this is an important firefighting tool for class a and b fires, including those involving electric vehicles. With evolving fire risks, especially the rising numbers of electric vehicles on the roads, the encapsulator material helps fire departments respond more effectively and safely to such fires.

Class ‘a’ fires are those that involve ordinary solids combustibles like paper, wood, cloth and some plastics. Class ‘b’ fires are those that involve flammable liquids such as alcohol, ether, oil, gasoline and grease, which are best extinguished by smothering. Officials from the Ottawa Fire Department say they are grateful for Kalmar’s continued support of public safety and their mission to protect the Ottawa community.
