A group of Paola High School students attended the Paola School Board meeting recently and for the fourth straight month, asked school board members to reverse a decision to remove rainbow-colored safe zone signs at the high school.

Paola senior Bethany Fannan had two questions for the board members during the open forum section:

The students have said the signs were a comfort to them and others who identify as LGBTQ+. Fannan says petitions show that a majority of the student body supports the safe zone signs. Superintendent Matt Meek says the signs violate district policy.
