A group of Paola High School students attended the Paola School Board Meeting recently and for the fourth straight month, asked school board members to reverse a decision to remove rainbow-colored safe-zone signs at the high school. Paola senior, Bethany Fannan, had two questions for the board members during the open forum section:

The students have said the signs were a comfort to them and others who identify as LGBTQ+. Fannon says petitions show that a majority of the student body supports the safe-zone signs. Superintendent Mark Meek says the signs violate district policy.
