A former candidate for governor is set for an appearance in Anderson County District Court later this month on charges connected to his alleged vandalism of a family member’s farm vehicle, and a supposed altercation with a law enforcement officer. Arlynn Briggs got into an argument with his brother, Gary Briggs last July when the incident allegedly occurred.
Briggs has a history with the Anderson County Sheriff’s office dating back to February 2022 when he was charged with criminal threat and making a false emergency call. At that time there was a string of verbal altercations with deputies, dispatchers and voicemail recordings. His preliminary hearing is set for April 29th in Anderson County District Court.
Briggs ran for governor in 2022 and received 80,000 votes in his race with Derek Schmidt.
