Osawatomie had a visit from some people looking to spread the word about tourism opportunities in Kansas. Manager of the Kansas Tourism Mobile Visitor Center, Kevin Crockett and Mona Carver, who is the manager of 27 information centers across the state came from Ottawa and stopped in Osawatomie to see the John Brown historic site in John Brown Memorial Park. Funny thing, as they were waiting on a train, Osawatomie resident Lori Stottlemire flagged them down. Once she found out what they were doing, she invited them to the creamery bridge and they even climbed down on the dam to check it out. Carver says Stottlemire did a great job promoting Osawatomie and that people are very passionate about their hometowns. Small towns are the heart of Kansas. After checking out the bridge, Crockett and Carver found their way to John Brown Memorial Park and the Adair Cabin, where they met Site Administrator, Grady Atwater, who gave them a tour.
Visiting Osawatomie gave Crockett firsthand knowledge of its tourism sites, which he said will make it easier for him to promote the area, and carver says she has already encouraged multiple people to check out what Osawatomie has to offer, and as a motorcycle rider, she thinks it would be a great place to go on a ride with friends.
