It took a couple of years, but Kansas lawmakers have finally come up with a bill that Governor Kelly supports, when it comes to personal property taxes. The bill, signed by Kelly, says there will be no property taxes on electric wheelchairs, ATV’s, snowmobiles, off road motorcycles, golf carts, motorized bicycles, trailers of 15,000 pounds or less, and watercraft. Twelfth District Senator, Caryn Tyson, says she had a constituent tell her she was paying more tax on her ATV than her house. She also mentioned a phone call from the Kansas County Appraiser Association suggesting exempting certain items, such as the ones listed.

There was also a bill signed that requires county treasurers to mail property tax statements by December 1st, instead of December 15th. Payments will still be due on December 20th.
