If you are thinking of going camping at Hillsdale Lake soon and buying your yearly pass at the information center. You need to make another plan. The Kansas City District, U. S. Army Corps of Engineers will temporarily close or reduce services at recreation areas across Kansas, Missouri, Nebraska and Iowa beginning May 15. They are currently dealing with seasonal staffing and resource limitations that affect their ability to safely open and maintain all recreation sites at normal levels of service.
One of those lakes affected is Hillsdale Lake. The Hillsdale Information Center will be closed to the public with no services, including sales of the corp locations annual pass. The same is true at Kanopolis Lake, and at Wilson Lake, Marshal Cove Loop will be closed for overnight use, although open during the day.
Visitors to any Corp Of Engineers lake are encouraged to verify the status of recreation sites before traveling and to consider alternative locations where needed. They also ask that visitors follow all posted signage and closures. Respecting these limits helps protect public safety and ensures that facilities can reopen more effectively in the future.
