The Anderson County Sheriffs office is doing what it can to help those in need of food… particularly meat. Anderson County Sheriff, Wess McCain, has announced they are changing their deer salvage policy in coordination with ECKAN to better serve the community. If a motorist is involved in a car versus deer accident, at the conclusion of the accident report, the deputy will ask if they would like a deer salvage tag. If they decline the tag, the officer will contact ANCO Processing, a food processing company on Kentucky Road. They will retrieve and process the deer carcass. The processed meat will then be donated to ECKAN for distribution to needy families in the area.

The Sheriff’s office emphasizes that it is extremely important to report any car versus deer collision to dispatch, regardless of damage to your vehicle. They look forward to continuing to serve the community in new and innovative ways.
