As part of National Police Week, the Ottawa Police Department held their annual awards ceremony recently. Two officers received commendations for their efforts. Employee commendations are given to recognize performance that significantly contributes to improving the department, the employee, or a unit. Master Patrol Officers Andrew Dougan and Kevin Virosteck received commendations for their work arresting drug and alcohol impaired drivers, people possessing drugs, and investigating drug sales in Ottawa. Their work has led to the recovery of guns, drugs and other evidence that helps keep Ottawa safe.

The Peer Support Team was also recognized. This team is part of the department’s internal employee wellness program and provides employees of the department support as needed. Master Patrol Officers Josh Swab, Jordan Bailey and Andrew Dougan, along with police and fire chaplain Nate O’Rourke are all part of the peer support team. Congratulations and thank you to all the officers.
