AdventHealth Ottawa is one step closer to reopening birthing services at the local hospital. They have announced the hiring of Dr. Raven Weiss, a family medicine and obstetric provider, offering specialized care during pregnancy, childbirth, postpartum, and newborn care. Combined that with the hiring of Dr. Bridget Abney, who practices ObGyn Services, CEO of AdventHealth Ottawa, Brendan Johnson, says it is a foundational step in reopening of services at Advent Ottawa. He says physician recruiting efforts continue and they will be posting for more that 11 full time labor and delivery nursing positions immediately, to continue to rebuild the program, in anticipation of the return of comprehensive birthing services in the near future. He adds that the target to reestablish the program this year remains solid, even as they look to finalize recruitment of a third provider to complete the program services.
Dr. Weiss will begin outpatient services at her office at the AdventHealth Ottawa Park, as well as the Advent Primary Care Wellsville location, sometime in August.
