Summertime can be an issue for some families in the area. A lot of time to kill for the kids and in some cases, a huge bump in food costs to feed the kiddos, creating a financial burden on many families. How would you like free meals for your kids or grandkids this summer? No problem. The Kansas Food Bank has partnered with the Garnett Church of the Nazarene and the Kincaid Community Library to once again provide summer meals for children as part of the USDA Summer Food Service Program. Meals will be distributed as a “grab & go” each week.
Meals will be served at the following location and times. In Garnett, pickup is at Garnett Church of the Nazarene from noon – 1:00 p.m.. The first pickup was actually yesterday, May 28th, and from now on will be on Mondays from June 2nd through August 4th. Kincaid pickup will be at the Kincaid Community Library from 1:00 to 2:00 on Mondays starting June 2nd and running through August 4th. Each child will receive a prepackaged distribution of meals for the week. A child must be present to receive a meal box. Free meals are available to all children ages 1-18.
