Early voting has begun for the Osawatomie USD 367 proposed $10.5 million school bond. The actual special election will take place Tuesday, June 3rd, but you can cast your ballot early if you like. Advance voting will continue until noon Monday, June 2nd. School District voters can vote early in person from 8:00 to 4:30 today, May 29th and tomorrow, May 30th,, as well as until noon Monday, June 2nd at the Miami County Clerk & Election Office inside the Miami County Administration Building in Paola. Polls will be open on election day, Tuesday, from 7:00 to 7:00 at Mac Steele Gym inside Osawatomie High School. For this special election only, school district voters who normally vote at Fontana Methodist Church will vote at the Mac Steele Gym location.

District officials have emphasized that the proposed bond would not increase the mill levy, because previous bonds are being paid off. The bulk of the bond would be used at the high school. Over $11 million to remodel three science rooms; remodeling restrooms and making them ADA compliant; upgrading the auditorium including the stage, seating, lights, curtains, and audio; replacing windows, replacing doors and locks; replacing 23-year-old chiller units; replacing the boiler that is original from when the school was built in 1968, and many more upgrades.
