The USDA has announced it will release $1 billion in emergency livestock relief program payments ahead of schedule. These payments are intended for livestock producers who experienced grazing losses due to drought or wildfire in 2023 and 2024. Payments will be automatically issued to producers who have an approved livestock forage disaster program application on file with the Farm Service Agency, or FSA.
This is the first of two programs authorized by the “American Relief Act of 2025” to assist livestock producers. Additional assistance for flood-related losses will be announced later this summer. The USDA also reminds producers about the ongoing emergency commodity assistance program with an application deadline of August 15th.
