One of the busiest and outdated intersections in Ottawa is set for a huge upgrade. The Ottawa City Commission approved a plan to make changes at the intersection, starting by replacing the often non-functioning traffic signals. City of Ottawa Utilities Director, Scott Snethen:

It’s going to be expensive. The project engineering cost alone is estimated to be about $575,000. Tran Systems was responsible for the engineering and will conduct the Bid Letting Process for the construction at 15th and Main concerning the traffic signal. The current signal was installed in 1978. They are also looking at making the area more ADA compliant and pedestrian friendly from the Rail Trail to the intersection. Construction is expected to begin late this summer.
