The Ottawa Police Department has announced two new programs that have to do with community policing and education. One of those is geared toward teens. Captain JW Hawkins, with the Ottawa Police Department says the kids will be given some history of the department and communication and de-escalation, as well as patrol duties and how to interact with police:
The class is for those 14 to 19 whose parents work or live in Franklin County. Class size is limited to 12 teens and they expect the class to fill fast. You can register your teen for the class at the City of Ottawa website, look under the police department tab, or email them at “[email protected]”.
