The Franklin County Literature Festival was once again a success. The festival was the dream of former teacher, Gerry Getty, who wanted every child in Franklin County would have the chance to listen to and meet real authors, illustrators and storytellers. That dream came true once again. Over 1,500 attended the festival; 760 kindergartners through 2nd graders and 778 third thru fifth graders.

The students were able to visit with and hear from authors Elizabeth Bunce, Tammi Sauer, and Jody Jensen Shaffer, singer and storyteller, Alan Cunningham, illustrator Ard Hoyt and Daniel Miyares and more. The Franklin County Literature Fest is sponsored by the Franklin County Reading Council , Friends of the Ottawa Library, Ottawa University and 35 other local businesses and organizations. Plans for next years literature festival are already in the works and organizers are hoping for even more students and an even better literature festival next year.
