
Another stolen vehicle in Ottawa, this time the driver gets caught. The Chevy Tahoe was stolen from the 1100 block of South Main yesterday, June 16th, just before 10:30. An Ottawa Police Officer attempted to stop it but the driver fled and a pursuit was initiated, with the suspect driving north on 59 Highway at a high rate of speed. As the chase neared 56 Highway, the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office took over. Deputies attempted to stop the vehicle on the highway, but could not and they discontinued the pursuit as the vehicle entered Lawrence on Iowa Street, due to the amount of traffic in the area. However, the stolen vehicle crashed as it approached 31st and Iowa and the driver ran from the scene. She was quickly captured and taken into custody. Twenty three year-old Christina Norris of Kansas City, Missouri was treated for minor injuries before being transported back to the Franklin County jail, where she faces charges of theft, felony fleeing and eluding and an out of state warrant.
A Douglas County Deputy was involved in a collision with another vehicle at 33rd and Iowa Streets. Medics checked parties involved in the crash,an adult driver and child, and no one was transported from the scene.
