
The mental health of first responders is crucial. On average, a regular citizen will have up to 8 critical incidents in the life, however, a first responder may have over 200 in their career, whether that be a fatality accident, an injury involving a child, or a variety of other things. Franklin County Sheriff, Jeff Richards, says they go through a program called Critical Incident Stress Management:
The team is made up of other law officers and other first responder and mental health providers that talk about how they mentally and emotionally react to the situation.
