Miami County Election volunteers will be able to use 30 new electronic polling pads to check-in voters, thanks to a $37,600 purchase approved by the Miami County Commission. Miami County Clerk, Laura Epp, says the know-ink poll pads are electronic poll books that are certified by the Election Assistance Commission and widely used in the United States. She says the polling pads help ensure the transparency and accuracy of elections for the public with efficiency at the polling locations. They allow for short lines, quick check-in of the voters, and accuracy to reassure voter confidence during the election process in the prevention of voter fraud when checking voters in.

The Miami County Clerk and Election Office has been a user of know-ink since 2018, but Epp says the current 25 pads are outdated, and the software no longer supports updates. Delivery of the 30 new electronic polling pads is estimated to take six to eight weeks, but they should be ready for the November 4th general election.
