A recent survey found that 86% of Americans are planning on celebrating the 4th of July this year and spending nearly $9 billion on food alone, only $2. 8 billion on fireworks, with over 72 million people traveling 50 or more miles from home to celebrate the 4th. That number, by the way, is a all time high.

Some interesting statistics from the survey, even though it’s Independence Day, 38% say they don’t feel financially independent. Also, 53% say they plan to spend less money this 4th of July than they did last year. And a third of Americans say tariffs are affecting their holiday weekend plans, but they are not willing to pay extra to buy American made products, which confuses me a bit, because 65% say they are making an effort this year to buy things made in the U. S. A. The survey ranked Las Vegas as the number one city to celebrate, while the Kansas City area ranked number 14 on the list.

Get out, enjoy the holiday weekend, and, if you do blow up some fireworks, be safe.
